Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 10/16/2025 - Change Is Always Possible

It was great to see so many of you last week for Parent-Teacher Conferences. It is always a great day for the teachers as we learn so much about our students by getting to know their families. Thank you for your dedication to your children's education and for continuing to partner with us.

Our saint this week is St. Paul, and the students are learning about the holy habit of reverence. We have talked about reverence, especially at Mass, quite a bit over the past year, so I’m going to share briefly about St. Paul instead. You are likely familiar with the story of St. Paul. His name was originally Saul, and he was known for persecuting Christians, until he heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him and converted to Christianity. He then became one of the most well-known missionaries in the early Church and wrote several books in the New Testament.

St. Paul is a reminder to all of us that change is possible. Sometimes we become “stuck,” unable to break a bad habit or change our reputation. I see this often with students. They believe they must continue to behave a certain way because it’s what they’ve done in the past, even when they know it isn’t right. Or, others in their life continue to assume they’ll behave that way even when they have demonstrated they want to make a positive change. St. Paul reminds us that change is always possible. We can turn our hearts toward Jesus at any point, no matter what our prior decisions were, and he’s always there to welcome us. He always gives us a chance to return to Him. May we remember this for ourselves and give the same grace to others as well.

Parish Family Masses

We are excited to be at four of our parishes this month for family Masses! We hope to see many of you at your parishes, wearing your All Saints uniform or spirit wear and showing your support of our amazing school. Here’s the schedule:

  • Sunday, 10/19, 10:00am Mass at St. Elizabeth Seton (say hi to me if you’re there!)
  • Sunday, 10/19, 10:00am Mass at Our Lady of Mercy (say hi to Sr. Maria if you’re there!)
  • Sunday, 10/26, 11:00am Mass at St. Margaret Mary (say hi to me if you’re there!)
  • Sunday, 10/26, 11:15am Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle (say hi to Sr. Maria if you’re there!)

Bernie’s Book Bank & Book Fair

If you haven’t already done so, take a few minutes tonight to clean out your children’s bookshelves and donate any gently used children’s books to Bernie’s Book Bank! There are bins at each of the doors when you enter school. This is a great way to make room for new purchases at next week’s Book Fair! The Book Fair will be held Tuesday-Friday next week; students will preview on Tuesday and then have the opportunity to shop Wednesday and Thursday, with last call on Friday morning. As the weather cools and we have more time indoors, it’s a great time to stock up on new books!

Halloween

Halloween is Friday, October 31st, and we know your kids are excited! We will not have a school Mass on this day. Instead, we will celebrate All Saints Day with a special Mass on Monday, November 3rd

Parents are welcome to join us for a Costume Parade at 2pm on the Recess Pad, weather permitting. Please see more details for each Academy below.

  • Preschool: Students may come to school in their costumes. Parents are welcome to join us for a costume parade at 8:30 in the gym. Class parties will be 8:45-9:45am.
  • Primary Academy (K-2): Students may come to school in their costumes. Students will participate in the Costume Parade at 2pm, and class parties will be at 2:15pm.
  • Intermediate Academy (3-5): Students may come to school in their costumes. Students will participate in the Costume Parade at 2pm, and class parties will be at 2:15pm.
  • Updated information for the Junior High Academy (6-8): Student Council is planning a Halloween Social for the afternoon! We WILL allow junior high students to wear costumes this year if they choose! See below for costume guidelines for all students. If junior high students prefer, they may wear Halloween colors (black, orange, and purple) in place of costumes.

As you prepare, please remember that all costumes must be appropriate for school. No masks that cover the eyes, makeup, weapons, or violent costumes are allowed. Please make sure your child is able to sit comfortably in a desk and use the bathroom independently in his/her costume.
