ASCA Lenten Market
So, what is the ASCA Lenten Market?
Junior High has been busy preparing for the 2nd Annual ASCA Lenten Market, which will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, March 21 from 12:30 – 3 pm. Teaching students to be ‘others centered’ and philanthropic is an important part of our mission and curriculum. How to raise funds to accomplish the mission objective is what our students are learning how to do with the Lenten Market - attaining real world skills.
Students are making and creating products, doing design work, marketing and ad campaigns, and honing their sales expertise. This year, the market will be raising money for Hogar del Pobre Orphanage in Mexico, and also for U4Uganda, who will be building desks to lift their pen pals in Uganda up out of the dirt.
There will be over 50 booths at the market this year – here are just a few of the many offerings: products such as hair scrunches, candles and soap, and services. Your students will be able to throw a pie at their gym teacher, get their nails painted, enjoy a bowl of ice cream, or buy a handmade item. There will be all kinds of food products like delicious Oreo treats, a popcorn parlor, muffins, and cupcakes, and cookies, oh my! This year there will even be a Donut Wall! Mr. Moore will be selling raffle tickets for a beautiful charcoal drawing of Saint Theresa of Calcutta that he created.
The students have been exercising their creativity, and are excited for the rest of the school to visit their booths. Most items can be purchased for only $1 to $3. So students - get ready for the ASCA Lenten Market next Thursday, March 21, and come prepared to purchase the many fun, useful, exciting, delicious, interesting items that will be offered, and in turn, support our Lenten almsgiving to Hogar del Pobre, and to U4Uganda.
