Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 8/15/2024 - Meet and Greet
We are looking forward to seeing you this afternoon for our Meet & Greet! Due to today's rain, we will be moving our Meet & Greet inside. Even if the rain stops, this will help protect the new grass and keep mud off the carpet so everything is still sparkling clean on the first day next week. I’m sad that the children won’t be able to explore the new recess pad today, but that will just make the first day of recess that much more exciting for them! Meet & Greet is from 3-5pm this afternoon; please enter at Door 1. 1st-8th grade students may bring in supplies and visit the classrooms; preschool and kindergarten will bring supplies next week but can still come meet their teachers today. We’ll begin with a short prayer service in the gym, and then you’ll have time to visit classrooms, visit with one another, shop spirit wear, and enjoy a treat from Kona Ice. Don’t forget your box of cereal to donate to Loaves & Fishes. Thank you to ASPA for all their help with this back to school event!
Yesterday our faculty and staff was blessed to spend the day on retreat at the Marian Lake Convent, home of the Mantellate Sisters and our very own Sr. Maria. It was a beautiful day of peace, prayer, and friendship as we set the tone for the new year. We look forward to sharing that peace with our families and students throughout the year!
If you haven’t already done so, be sure to log in to your FACTS Family Portal and complete your Web Forms, which were due last week. I will be reaching out to individual families today or tomorrow if your forms are still incomplete to remind you to get them done before school begins.
Tuesday is the first day of school for our 1st-8th grade students. Please revisit last week’s Saints Speak or our Parent-Student Handbook if you have questions about the arrival or dismissal procedures. We’ll have extra staff and student helpers on hand to assist with arrival the first few days. All students should be in uniform for the first day of school. Tuesday is an 11:30am dismissal, so there is no lunch, bus, or after care. Wednesday will be a full day for 1st-8th grade, Orientation for Kindergarten, and Mom, Dad, & Me for Preschool. Thank you in advance for your patience during the first week, as we know procedures will take a little longer as everyone adjusts back into the routine of school.
As you begin planning for the school year, please consider volunteering in some way this year! There are many opportunities, in the classroom for parents with flexible schedules as well as things that can be done from home if you work full time. If you’re new to ASCA, please visit the “Resources” tab on the FACTS Family Portal for instructions on how you can complete the volunteer requirements. If you’re returning, please check your Virtus account and make sure everything is up to date. Get a jump start on this now so you’re ready to join us for upcoming events like our Fun Run and Book Fair!
We are also looking for volunteers to assist with lunch and recess. Click here to sign up!
Don’t forget to place your hot lunch order via FACTS. Hot lunch orders are due today for August and September.
Lastly, please save the date for our 2nd Annual Saintly Ballers 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, September 15th. This event is a lot of fun for the whole family! Click here for a flyer with more information, or click here to view the website with all the details as well as registration links. The password to access the website is StaySaintly. The committee is looking for volunteers as well as donations to help the event succeed; thank you in advance for your support!
Have a great day, and see you this afternoon!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
